After 24 years with the district, Anthony Mandile has retired from his position as the Director of Facilities. As facilities director, Mandile was in charge of making sure that everything in Pelham was well-kept and ran smoothly, overseeing snow removal, fire safety inspections, playground inspections, and building and student safety.

Mr. Mandile started at Pelham as a night senior custodian in 1994, became head custodian in 1995, and eventually rose to the position of Director of Facilities. Mandile leaves behind a legacy of productive change for Pelham. His involvement in projects such as the construction of the new middle school building, the planning of the new proposed Hutchinson Elementary School, renovations to the locker rooms, and safety renovations to the other elementary schools and the high school back in 2010 will forever be appreciated.

Mr. Mandile will be replaced by Mr. John P. Condon, a former Director of Facilities for both the Eastchester and Yorktown school districts.

“I think that [this] will be a very easy, smooth transition, because [Mr. Condon] knows a lot about facilities,” said Mr. Mandile. “He just has to learn the people in the buildings.”

Mr. Condon has large shoes to fill as Pelham’s new facilities director. However, with extensive experience that includes a stint as Parks and Recreation Manager for New York City, he is confident that he is prepared to take on the job.

Mr. Condon said, “I didn’t know what the Pelican Nation was before, but I’m getting there and I’m very excited to be working here now.”
