Trivia games not only help players build knowledge, but can also help them create bonds. On March 16, the Youth to Youth (Y2Y) club sponsored a Kahoot tournament at JCafe. Kahoot, an internet game started in 2013, is a speed-based trivia game that teachers have begun to use in their classes for interactive learning. Y2Y hosted its own Kahoot game, held to support safe socialization among teens, and it was a big success. For a $5 entry fee students competed and were served food complements of J Cafe.

The familiar Kahoot jingle sounded at 4:00pm, as eight teams totalling nearly thirty students put their smarts to the test. The winning team was Team Scalene, made up of juniors Erin Cohen and Julian Wisdom, and sophomores Lukas Glist and Sophie Xue. The winners were crowned after five rounds, and awarded $50 worth of gift cards to Pelham Pizza.

Y2Y is a club partnered with PACT (Pelham And Community Together). PACT was founded to create a safe environment for students. It is currently run by President Laura Caruso, with the help of Sarah Buckley, an assistant to the school.

“The main goal of PACT is to make Pelham a better place,” Ms. Buckley said.

Y2Y is the high school outlet for PACT. They both “focus on providing events that are drug free and alcohol free,” senior Karla Pennetta, co-president of Y2Y and member of PACT said.
