This past season the girls varsity volleyball team was unstoppable and had a near perfect record which was partly led by senior captain Natalia Cherner. Her sportsmanship and team spirit lifted the teams energy when facing off their league rivals and leading them to league champions. Thus, the Section has named Natalia the New York Volleyball Coaches Association leadership award, an award given to those who have demonstrated the most leadership throughout such a difficult season.

Cherner said, “I’m so happy and honored to receive the New York Volleyball Coaches Association leadership Award this year. After our season had ended so abruptly, it was such a mood changer to be given this award. I’m beyond  thankful to be given an award based on leadership, sportsmanship, and compassion and I’m so happy to be a part of the Pelham Varsity Volleyball Team and its amazing program that has made me the player I am today.”

With the team being put in quarantine and ending their season just before going into playoffs, Cherner continued to keep spirits high so everyone could remember their season as nothing but successful.
