To the Editor,
I am writing in response to an article entitled “Mandarin Teacher Zhu Leaves; Eremita Arrives”. In regards to this article, I have to ask why you did not focus a lens on the effect this sudden switch of teachers had on the Mandarin students’ education. As a (freshman) Mandarin student at Pelham High School, I am personally not having a smooth transition between teachers. The mid-year switch, I can say, was not welcomed with open arms. It should also be noted that we are still expected to complete the same amount of tests and quizzes for this quarter as the previous, even though we have been on a two-week hiatus when the school was hiring Ms. Ermita. I am not here to complain about my new teacher, because she is doing pretty well for being thrown in mid-year. I just wished that this article showed that this transition has not been easy, for the students and teacher.
