The girls basketball season is underway, as they have a 10-4 record so far into the season, with 6 games left. The season started with their first game on December 7 against John Jay, and their final regular season game will be on February 10. They are led by captains Rebecca Nicholas, Kaitlyn Howell, and Mia Orlando, as well as coach Tim Pitrulle to guide them and provide leadership. On January 18, they had a close game where they beat Rye by 1, and have had a few other close games. They intend to finish the season strong and get as many wins as they can, so they build momentum for the playoffs, trying to perform up to expectations there.
Their goal is to improve so they can play quality defense, rebound well, as well as getting and taking advantage of more fastbreak opportunities. The team also wants to improve their shooting percentages, too. Practice is utilized as the players put in as much work as possible to strive everyday, as well as watching film to improve their play and recognize any weaknesses. They are driven by an internal motivation to beat every team and have the best season they can. Looking forward, they will lose 4 current seniors next season, as leadership and guidance for younger players will be missed from them.
