March Madness is here! Every year sports fans mark their calendars for the month of March and they dream about the wonderful experience that is March Madness. Whether someone is truly a college basketball fan or not the tournament is simply the greatest sporting event in the world. This year the tournament field is looking to be very unpredictable as usual however favorites include UConn, Houston and Purdue. Along with the favorites there are always a few teams controversially left out of the tournament field. This was seen with teams like Saint Johns and Indiana State. Both teams had excellent regular seasons and had significant excitement surrounding both teams. However, the committee simply decided that they did not believe these teams were truly worthy of a spot in the tournament. 

One of the very special aspects of March Madness is upsets. Whether it was fifteen seeded Saint Peters defeating two seeded Kentucky or sixteen seeded Fairleigh Dickinson defeating one seeded Purdue these events are a staple of March Madness. In the first round of this year’s tournament likely upsets may include James Madiosn defeating Wisconsin, NC State defeating Texas Tech and Colgate defeating Baylor. Along with these it is always important to be on the lookout for other upsets as a great Cinderella run is what makes March Madness the best.
