..There is a new sports internship program at Pelham! This program is new as of the 2025 winter season, and is designed to teach students who are interested in the specifics of skills and knowledge necessary for sports administration. This is a great opportunity for students looking to work in the sports administration fields down the line, such as athletic directing, management, coaching, and management. The students who become involved in the internship will learn about the backstage events that go into managing sports teams for the winter sports season. It already started in December and will end around March first. …..The program has three different directions students can take, depending on their interest and availability. They can participate in the internship by working with the Athletic Office for a year, for one season with all teams, or for one season with one team, depending on preference. The responsibilities of the interns will change as they get more comfortable within their role. Interns will gain the necessary experience to accelerate their interest and understanding with athletics and coaching/directing, and will partake in tasks such as equipment management, game day set-up, scheduling, student acknowledgement and celebration, sports philosophy, organizational structures, end of the season wrap-ups, athletic budgeting, community engagement, and more of the requirements that go into sports directing and management. Mr. Toombs says “This program is great for students with strong organizational skills and students that intend to take leadership roles in organizations one day. The skills that are adapted within this internship are great across all leadership positions in different organizations. The interns will learn to use the skills they practice while supporting athletics and promoting the student life experience at Pelham.” The experience is one of a kind, and is highly encouraged by the athletic department for students who are interested.
