Over spring break, the Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse team embarked on a memorable and eventful trip to Syracuse, New York. The journey, though short, was packed with competition, excitement, and meaningful team bonding experiences.
The trip kicked off with a competitive game against Minisink Valley High School. After traveling for over an hour by bus, the team faced off against a tough opponent. While the game ended in a tough loss, the girls remained resilient. Their spirits stayed high as they focused on learning from the match and supporting one another.
Without much time to spare, the team boarded the bus once again—this time for a longer drive upstate to Syracuse. Upon arrival, the girls were excited as they headed straight to the highly anticipated NCAA Division I lacrosse game between Boston College and Syracuse University. The energy in the stadium was electric, and the team was thrilled to witness two powerhouse programs go head-to-head. Second-ranked Boston College dominated the match, winning 17-2 in a commanding performance. “It was really cool to watch Boston College play. I’m a huge BC fan, so seeing them in person was amazing. I learned a lot just by watching how they moved the ball and worked together as a team,” said sophomore Callie Pascale. One of the night’s highlights came when the team met Otto the Orange, Syracuse University’s beloved and iconic mascot. The players took pictures, recorded fun videos, and shared laughs with Otto.
After the game, the team checked into their hotel for a relaxing and fun-filled night. The players enjoyed ice cream together and participated in a team talent show. “The trip was a great team bonding experience and was a lot of fun,” said sophomore Caitlin McGovern. “It was great to spend time with my teammates off the field and just enjoy being together.”
The following morning, the team boarded the bus once again and began the journey home, tired but fulfilled. The trip offered not just a chance to play and watch high-level lacrosse but also to build memories and strengthen the team’s connection, something that will undoubtedly benefit them as the season progresses.
