Movie Review: Avengers: Infinity War
May 22, 2018
Over the years, Marvel has superseded other action movie series with its iconic Avengers movies. Superheroes from the original movies, like Thor and Captain America, have always had a spot in the Marvel’s series. Yet, the studio has kept it fresh by adding in new characters in almost every movie. Old fans and potential new ones alike have been talking about Avengers: Infinity War for months as the stars aligned to allow all of the classic superheroes to team up in a battle to save the world. At the movie’s release, nobody knew what to anticipate. Theories had been thrown around for months before the movie hit screens. Going into the movie, the expectation of seeing these iconic characters interact with one another was high on my list and it did not disappoint; the film stood up to the hype that preceded it.
The Avengers series has always featured some of the most well-known actors; from Chris Evans to Robert Downey Jr. to Scarlett Johannson, the acting was outstanding. The preface to Avengers: Infinity War was the combination of multiple superheroes from Marvel movies in the past. Many of these characters have different personalities, from the naivete of Spiderman to the logical thinking of Iron Man. These different personalities caused many characters to collide with one another. For instance, the clash of personalities between Thor’s leadership and Chris Pratt’s Star Lord, the captain of the Guardians of the Galaxy, was a fun and interesting dynamic. They both like to get down to business but Pratt added a comedic value to the movie that Chris Hemsworth’s Thor didn’t bring this time.
This year, along with the new superheroes, Marvel introduced a villain by the name of Thanos (Josh Brolin). This antagonist highlighted the special effects created by Capital T, the special effects company that produced this movie.
The end of the movie provided a shocking ending that left the audience speechless. A hint towards a new hero at the end of the movie added a cliffhanger, leaving many in the audience eager for the return of the Avengers in years to come.
