On February 1, the boys varsity swimming team competed at MR OB Section 1 Boys Conference Champs and brought home a divisional championship for the first time in Pelham boys swimming history. Senior Dylan Nordstrom took 1st place in the 200 freestyle and 3rd overall in the 100 butterfly. Following, senior Lance Brady placed 2nd in both the 100 and 50 freestyle. To top it all off, junior Christopher Hartigan finished the meet as the League Champion in the 200 individual medley and third in the 100 backstroke. With outstanding swims by each member and multiple personal best times, captains Dylan Nordstrom, Lance Brady and Christopher Hartigan qualified for sectionals. After dominating the individual events, the IM relay placed 6th overall with great efforts by freshman Andy Wang, sophomores Connor Forrester and Jack Tirsch, and senior Matthew Tiso. Both the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay continued to dominate and placed an impressive 1st and 2nd by Nordstrom, Brady, Hartigan and junior Thomas Fontanella. They concluded their divisional win with an overall score of 312.5 points, and wrapped up their dual meet season with a record of 9-0. Three team members have qualified for sectionals and brought relays with them.

At sectionals on February 11 and 12, Hartigan placed 15th in both the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke. Nordstrom was the Section 1 Runner- Up in the 200 freestyle and placed in the top 5 in the 500 freestyle. The team’s 200 freestyle relay placed 9th and their 400 freestyle relay also placed 8th. Nordstrom will move onto states in March for both the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle. The team was very successful at only their third sectionals ever.
