For Mazzaro, her connection goes far beyond the sport itself.

My favorite thing about field hockey is the environment that it provides. I have been able to meet new people, form new friendships and better understand how much I enjoy the game. I also love the amount of success it has given me and my teammates over the last couple of years.”

Mazzaro says that her past and present teammates have inspired her continuously on and off the field, as she describes how close knit she and the team have become so early on in the season. Eileen remembers one moment that stands out as special.

“The double OT win in the quarterfinal game against Pearl River last season is by far my strongest memory.”

As a multisport athlete, college is slowly creeping up, but Mazzaro has decided to keep her options open when asked about recruiting. With high hopes in regards to the current season, she and her teammates hope to keep possession of their three year league title and maintain a good season record.
