Senior Aiden Levy Nominated for Presidential Scholar Award
March 4, 2021
Twelfth-grader Aidan Levy has been nominated as one of 25 New York State seniors for the US Presidential Scholars Program. Created in 1964, the organization was founded to select members of the graduating class who succeed in artistic excellence, essays, school evaluations and transcripts, as well as evidence of community service, leadership, and demonstrated commitment to high ideals.
Nominated by Interim Commissioner Betty Rosa and recommended by Assemblywoman Amy Paulin, Levy has worked hard in his years at PMHS to earn this recommendation. He serves as the President of the National Honor Society and the Vice President of the English Honor Society, is a member of the Spanish, Political Debate and Environmental Science Clubs, and has earned a spot in the Rho Kappa, Math, Science and English Honor societies.
In a press release issued on the PMHS school website, Assemblywoman Amy Paulin applauded Levy’s nomination.
Paulin said, “I am thrilled to learn that Aiden Levy has been nominated by Interim Commissioner Betty Rosa as a candidate for recognition in the 2021 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. Aiden is the definition of resilient and tenacious. He has not only excelled academically, but he is a leader who has earned the respect of his peers at Pelham Memorial High School. Aiden has already demonstrated that he is the kind of person who strives to make the world a better place. I look forward to hearing more about this courageous and impressive young man.”
Levy said, ”I am honored to receive this nomination, and grateful for the education I have received at Pelham Memorial High School. My teachers, counselors and relationships here at Pelham are something I will forever cherish”.
Semifinalists will be released mid-April and official Scholars that will receive a US President Scholar medallion will be announced in May.
