DOOR Magazine to Host Annual Poetry Café

Lucy Edmunds, Editor in Chief, Senior

PMHS is notorious for both its excellence in arts and beloved traditions– Poetry Cafe blends both! Hosted by DOOR Magazine, the literary and art publication of PMHS, Poetry Cafe has served as an outlet for students to share their work as well as admire that of others. In a typical year, poetry would take place in a classroom decked out with fairy lights, bean bag chairs, and plenty of snacks. Students and teachers are able to read-out a poem they wrote or one they enjoy for others. Additionally, Poetry Cafe encompasses a competition, for both photography/visual art and poetry to be included in that year’s issue of DOOR.

Although the pandemic restricts PMHS from hosting its cozy poetry cafe in its typical form, there will be an in-person event this year. On May 12, a version of Poetry Cafe will be hosted by the breezeway and courtyard between the Middle and High Schools from 1-3 pm. This year’s theme suits its new venue– Lost in Nature.

Students are encouraged to submit poetry and photography to [email protected] no later than April 23!
