Track Season Recap

Grace Condon, Clubs Editor, Junior

The PMHS girls and boys track teams had a strong finish to their seasons despite the obstacles caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This season was a shortened one, with limited meets as well as practices. The majority of the meets attended were dual meets, as opposed to meets with several teams which would be common in a normal school year. The teams still made the most of it and with the great help of coaches, athletes were able to complete a record-breaking season.

Ben Levine, a junior started the season strong breaking his personal record in a sub-five minute mile. At an invitational meet which was held in White Plains, Levine set his personal record in the one-mile run with a time of 4:36.27.

“It’s been a while since we’ve had regular races so this season was great. We all got to show the results of the hard work we’ve been putting in,” Levine said.

The teams also competed in the Section 1 League 2E Championships held on Wednesday, May 26 and Thursday, May 27 at Edgemont High School. The top athletes from this event were later able to compete at the New Rochelle (Westchester) Invitational and the Section 1 Class B Championship. In the League Championship, Pelham placed second behind Ardsley High School, and the great performances seen by many athletes advanced several team members to the invitational and the Class B Championship.

“This was my first year on the team and I had a great experience. I am excited for future seasons for hopefully a more normalized season!” freshman Celia Parent said.
