Pelham Memorial High School’s Varsity Girls Swimming Team has had a great start to their season. One highlight so far was a recent win over North Rockland. Claire Reed had the best time in the 200 Freestyle and 500 Freestyle. Cindy Wang won both the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Breaststroke race. Maddie Horner had the best time in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly. In addition, Julia Gunster won the 100 Backstroke race, and Amy Dougherty won the 100 Freestyle. Along with Emily Dougherty took first place in the diving competition.

The team worked well in team events at the race as well. They won the 200 Freestyle Relay, 400 Freestyle Relay, and the 200 Medley Relay.

“I am so lucky to be a part of the swim team at PMHS! I think my favorite part of it is the community it builds,” junior and team veteran Amy Dougherty said. I look forward to this season all year because it is a friendly environment where we get to be with friends and play the sport we love.” The team looks to build on this start to the year as they move on through the season.
