…..Pelham Memorial High School girls varsity basketball coach Timothy Pitrulle won the league coach of the year award for the 2022-23 season. Although the girls were not league champions, other coaches from the league selected Pitrulle as a testament to his coaching skills and the team’s dominant 15-5 season record.
…..“Pelham did not win the league this season so it is a bit unusual and always an honor to be recognized by your peers,” said Pitrulle. “The fact that we came in 3rd in the league and the other coaches still thought enough of the program and the successes we had this year to still bestow the award to me is, as I’ve said, quite an honor.”
…..The team had an incredible run this season, including a powerful 12 win game streak against rival schools like Eastchester and Rye. This was the first coach of the year award for Pitrulle who has been coaching the team for 13 years. He stayed humble about his accomplishment, crediting the team for their success.
…..“It speaks way more about the girls and how well they performed all year. If we don’t go 15-5 then I’m not even considered,” said Pitrulle.
