The highly anticipated, annual event, Toonerville took place on September 23. The music festival includes amazing live music, two stages, great food, and more. Although the weather was very rainy, the event went on. There were many performers from bands to students from PMHS.
The headliners, “The Spin Doctors”, have 3.6 million monthly listeners on Spotify. They have amazing songs such as “Two Princes” and “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong.” The Spin Doctors put on a thrilling performance and were a great choice for the headliners.
There were many current Pelham students, and alumni who performed all day at Toonerville. Pelham alum Matty Reynolds has made a great starting career for himself, and gave a great performance. Current Pelham students rocked the stage such as Ava Pursel, Grace Kiamie, Liam Ginsburg & The Delay, and Backbone of Society.
“It was my first time performing at Toonerville, and it was pretty cool because we had our own special effects, and sang two original songs,” said lead singer of Backbone of Society Lucette Ow.
A very smart addition to Toonerville this year was a trolley. It took a loop around Pelham that took about 30 minutes. It would pick up and drop off people at the festival.
The rain was very on and off all day, but luckily not too powerful. People in the crowd wore ponchos and brought umbrellas to stay protected.
“It was really fun to perform in the rain, the only downside was I started to lose my voice at the end of our set,” said Ow.
Other outstanding performers included Brandi & The Alexanders, and Illiterate Lights. All of these bands including Spin Doctors sang later and closed out the night. Despite the unpredictable weather, Toonerville was a success this year.
