In the past few weeks a viral sensation has arisen among the students of Pelham Memorial High School. This development has come in the form of the student band The Mellow Fellows. The Mellow Fellows are composed of juniors Christian Prencis on guitar, Jake Fellner on drums, Julian Kalehoff on keyboard and sophomore Theo Romaniuk on bass. The band’s musical style is Jazz and R&B music, which they describe as perfect for setting the mood for parties and other events.
Despite their traditional style and setting of music, The Mellow Fellows have been able to gain a significant social media following through short clips of famous video game theme songs. Their first viral video was to the theme song of the popular mobile game, Subway Surfers. This video reached over 700,000 likes and had over 5 million views on Instagram. Following this, they posted another video of them playing the theme from the video game Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. This video again reached a remarkable amount of likes at almost 200,000 and further contributed to their instagram accounts explosion in followers to over 35,000 followers.
When asked about the recent successes of the band, guitarist Christian Prencis said, “We think we’ve seen this success with the way we conduct our business professionally. We keep a close connection with our fans, plug in, and just have fun!”. The band hopes to continue producing fun and interactive music to play live and share on social media.
