On September 21st, the music festival Toonerville took place. Toonerville occurred behind Rockwells in their parking lot and included many local talents. Toonerville included local artists like the Mellow Fellows, 7th Avenue, Dos Decadas, and featured 10,000 Maniacs as the headliner. This is Toonerville’s fourth year of existence and it has provided a stage for young and hungry bands and artists to shine. Toonerville is very important to many local aspiring musicians. Toonerville allows small bands and artists to gain a following and showcase their talent. These young musicians have shown outstanding talent every year and given everyone involved an amazing experience.
The crowd experience at Toonerville was an amazing opportunity to listen to all kinds of music played by many young aspiring musicians. Junior Nate Reynoso said, “It was cool to see numerous bands perform a variety of genres.” Nate’s musical perspective was broadened by Toonerville because it was an opportunity for him to be exposed to less contemporary music that he wouldn’t have otherwise discovered. The experience for the performing artists was encouraging and supportive. According to 7th Avenue drummer and Junior Will Russello, ”Performing at Toonerville was super fun, it was the first time we had a proper sound check and got to play our songs in a festival setting, I think all of the band had fun.” Toonerville’s incredible atmosphere and local business also flourished. Sean Lynch, a local photographer, had the opportunity to take pictures of the artists and bands. Sean states, “Everyone at Toonerville, on the organization side, was friendly and did good business.” Toonerville highlights everything that you want in a town festival. The friendly administrators create a warm and welcoming environment to hang out with friends and listen to music. Toonerville’s mission is to raise money for the Pelham Civic Association and they will use the profit to aid the community in any way they see fit. The non-profit nature of Toonerville showcases its value to the community. The business from Toonerville only goes back to the community and its people. Toonerville began its journey four years ago and has massively grown and contributed to the community and its people.
Toonerville is always an exciting event every year and an excellent opportunity for all involved. Toonerville succeeds in its mission every year to create an environment for people to share their love for music. Toonerville’s mission is much more than just music; it takes a massive role in the improvement of the community. Toonerville is a cornerstone of this town and will be cherished for many more years to come.
