Pelham Memorial High School junior Liam Gimigliano doesn’t just find himself spending time in the classroom, but unlike other average students, he is better known by his YouTube channel Liam Gimig. With over 50,000 subscribers on YouTube, 275,000 followers on TikTok, and tens of millions of views across all platforms, his videos incorporate comedy, motivational messaging, and positive values all in a fun, lighthearted package designed for social media.
But YouTube videos aren’t the end goal for Gimig. In an interview for the Pel Mel, Gimig cited his goals as, “I want to start a clothing brand, start a media company, and have a positive influence on my viewers.” Gimig believes that building an influence and relationship with fans allows him to more easily push a positive message, while not destroying the quality of his content. Responding to a question over who inspired him, Liam responded, “Baylen Levine, he’s a YouTuber in my genre, and he showed me that no matter how many adversities you face, you can always overcome them and achieve your goals.” He plans to travel the country and collaborate with other YouTubers to benefit his content. “This summer, me and my team are going to Chicago to meet with a YouTuber our age, Danny Spud, and it’s exciting to see how far this channel has come.” Being one of Liam’s closest YouTube peers, Spud went on to say, “Liam is one of the most dedicated people I know, and if he keeps his work ethic I know he will be successful.”
“It’s surreal how many positive messages I’ve received, how my videos helped people through tough times,” Liam said, in reference to the impact his videos have had on the world. Liam says that the channel gives him something to look forward to in terms of content creation, and that it has taught him organizational skills, discipline, running a business, and communication amongst members of a team. “The channel has given me an outlet for artistic creativity, and it’s a place where I can create the content that I want freely.” Gimig’s YouTube persona is comedic, funny, and oftentimes loud, but in real life, he describes himself as “Reserved, quiet, and stoic.” He says the channel lets him express a side of him that is more lighthearted than he is in everyday life.
Liam’s channel is proof that creativity can not only be positive, but result in a plethora of positive results for himself and others, a message that young people should hear when wanting to pursue their dreams. Liam says he would consider himself successful in his journey if, “I can entertain people, help people through my videos, and spread the word of God.”
