Boys and Girls Bowling is now in its third year as a Pelham sport. Led by Coach Clapp and Coach Green, the team has some veterans and new bowlers who look to contribute to the young program of Pelham bowling.
The Boys Bowling team led by Captains Joaquim Silva and Teddy Cruetz lost to New Rochelle and Mamaroneck. At the time of the article being written, the Boys team just beat Portchester and now have a record of 1-2. The Girls Bowling team led by Captains JJ Hertz and Mackenzie Whalen, beat New Rochelle and Port Chester, but lost to Mamaroneck. At the time of the article being written, they have a record of 2-1.
Despite the boys’ team losing against Mamaroneck, Captain Joaquim Silva had the team’s high of a score of 165. The girls’ team highest scorer was Mackenzie Whalen at 168.
“It’s been great being able to take part in starting the bowling team. Bowling has been a great experience, being a mix of both a social and competitive sport where you can hang out with your friends,” said Walter Jaklitsch, who has been on the team for three years since, “We’ve progressed from a one-win team to a 4th place team, and we are excited heading into our third year as a team.”
Pelham Bowling has not made the playoffs in three years but plans to bounce back and make its first program playoff push. Go support the bowling team at Bowlerland on January 27 versus White Plains.
