The fourth season of Netflix’s Bridgerton has not only been the talk of the ton, but also a Top Ten on the streaming service for the weeks it has been available to watch. The first part of the saga aired on January 29th, 2026, and consisted of four hour long episodes packed with drama and intrigue. The second part came out nearly a month later, on February 26th, though some critics argued this discouraged viewers to keep on watching, due to the hiatus and cliffhanger episode four left the audience with. Many fans had also been awaiting this season as it was Benedict’s, the second oldest brother of the family, and also the Bridgerton with the unruliest reputation. Benedict had been with both men and women in seasons past, and with his failed dreams of becoming an artist, it is clear to viewers that he has been at an impasse on what to do with his life. At the first ball of the season, a masquerade hosted by his own mother, Benedict meets a mysterious girl in a silver dress. She not only refused to give him her name, but fled the ball at midnight after a slow dance and a short kiss. She left Benedict only with her glove, and much like a Cinderella story, turned out to be a maid who had snuck out of her house only to experience the noble lifestyle for a single night. This encounter left Benedict in disbelief, as he had not only had a conversation with a woman who was bright and beyond her years, but he also immediately noticed the effect her absence had on his heart. He had no idea how he should look for her, and refused to even entertain the idea of another woman becoming his wife after they met. Another notable plotline of the season was Lady Danbury’s departure from England. Those who watched the spinoff show, Queen Charlotte, most definitely felt this emotional tug after the Queen begged her not to leave London, out of fear that her husband, King George would die and she would then be all alone. Another shocking plot twist was revealed in episode seven, as if all this wasn’t enough for viewers, when Francesca Bridgerton’s husband, John Kilmartin passed away suddenly. It was obvious how in love the two had been, and it was heartwrenching that Francesca and Kilmartin had not been able to have a child together before he passed. Overall, this season of Bridgerton is quickly becoming a fan favorite, as so much changed for the family everyone loves in such a short amount of time. In my opinion, it even rivals season two, Kate and Anthony’s story, as Sophie and Benedict’s relationship proves to everyone that social class means nothing when it comes to love and feelings of the heart. Benedict was ready to give up his entire life and title for Sophie…but whether he did or not will remain a mystery, unless you decide to watch for yourself!
