Following last year’s disappointing 9-13 season, the girls softball team got off to an electric start this year. The Pelicans kicked off their season with a dominating 10-6 win over Nyack. The team is captained by seniors KP Boggs and Emma Lauria, as well as sophomore Juliana O’Connor. The Pelicans are coached by Keith Maley.

“So far the captains have noticed that every player on the team wants to be there, creating a very positive dynamic,” Boggs said. She also pointed out that the team will be relying heavily on senior Lindsay McNamara, one of the team’s best hitters.

One of the team goals is to improve communication and have a team batting average over .300. The team looks to implement these goals in big games against Harrison and Eastchester. The Pelicans have started strong, sitting at a record of 2-1 after another key win over Somers.
