Spanish Club Sells Cake for Fundraising Initiative

Kate Loughran, Sophomore, Managing Editor

This year, the Spanish Club has taken on a new fundraising initiative: selling cake to faculty in order to raise money for those affected by earthquakes in Puerto Rico. The president of Spanish club, Jenna Lavan and vice president Jane Dunbar headed this initiative for fundraising.

Lavan said, “It was great to see how many people wanted to donate to help a good cause!”

The club, led by advisor Ms. Calvelli, sold tres leches cake in an effort to help Puerto Rico and its residents after the earthquake hit. The club was able to raise $181 in the time they had to fundraise. Unfortunately, the fundraiser was cut short by the Coronavirus pandemic.
