Pelham Cross-Country Team Competes at Regionals

Over the weekend of November 22, the Pelham Memorial High School cross country teams competed at regionals in Milton Park finishing their record-breaking season triumphantly. Both the boys and girls teams placed highly for the county with the girls’ team taking home second, and the boys’ team taking home third. As for the section, the girls placed 10th out of 33 teams, while the boys’ team placed 13th out of 44 teams. Senior Haley Wall, placed 3rd followed by senior Giovanna Vitale in 4th and then sophomore Emma Van Praagh taking 13th. 

The boys team matched this performance with junior Stephen Liaskos coming in third place. Liaskos broke the school record finishing with an astonishing time of 16:27 . Liaskoks said, “I feel that the coaching was the biggest contributing factor to my individual successes as well as the team’s.” junior Ben Levine trailed Liaskos finishing 9th overall, followed by junior Daniel Johnston in 16th and senior Chris Hartigan in 19th.

The cross country teams’ exceptional performance this season is thanks to great team efforts as well as coaching staff.

“Mr. Marcotulio and Mr. Green, helped us push hard in practice to best prepare us for the meet,” said Liaskos.

The cross country teams look forward to matching this performance in the coming seasons.
