The PMHS Habitat for Humanity Club spent March 20 volunteering at the Restore Center in New Rochelle. Restore Centers are located throughout the nation and are independently owned, but operated by local Habitat for Humanity organizations. These stores accept donations and sell home items at a fraction of the price. The proceeds made from these stores are then used to improve local communities. Habitat for Humanity is a non profit organization that is able to help families build or work on their homes. Last year, the club spent many hours working at the Restore Center, and fortunately this year the club has been able to visit several homes in the area that they were able to work on.

This weekend, club members aided in sorting items that were accepted as donations. Additionally, students organized items that have been in the store and worked on consolidating a large amount of inventory.

“I really like that H4H gives me an opportunity to help in a very hands on way. I enjoy seeing the actual differences we are able to make,” said junior Paige Felgner, who has been involved in the club since freshman year.

The club is aiming to hold at least one build each month, hoping to be able to work on homes, and also at the Restore Center. More information about these upcoming builds can be found on the Google Classroom page using the code og6b3xc.
