Pelham Memorial High School has been ranked the 669th best high school in the United States out of nearly 24,000 public schools. PMHS rose 23 places from their 2019 ranking of #692. PMHS ranked #68 in New York state high schools for the second year straight. The school’s AP participation rate, which is how many students take AP classes, jumped up 5% from 2019, from 74% to 79%.

Pelham was also ranked 3rd in Westchester County for Best Public Schools. PMHS beat out schools such as Bronxville, Rye, and Mamaroneck, who all also placed in the top 10 in Westchester. PMHS Principal Mark Berkowitz is proud of all these awards but also sees room to grow and improve as a school.

“Take those strides and points of praise as the amazing work our teachers in the classroom have done,” said Berkowitz.

U.S. News and World Report rank high schools based on college readiness, math and reading performance, underserved populations, college curriculum, and graduation rates. Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, VA was ranked the best public high school in the nation.
