This December, the Animal Welfare club held a drive to gather supplies needed at the Mount Vernon Animal Shelter. A box for the donations was set up outside of the auditorium from December 1-20 for all donations.

Supplies collected included:

  • Cat Treats
  • Wet/dry cat food
  • Catnip
  • Cat toys
  • Dog treats
  • Peanut Butter
  • Dog Toys
  • Bleach
  • Liquid Laundry detergent
  • Dish Soap
  • Hand soap/hand sanitizer
  • Floor cleaner (fabuloso)
  • Garbage bags (40 gallon)
  • Old newspapers
  • Paper towels/toilet paper
  • Gently used blankets or towels

“It is important to donate because, as the holidays are coming up, it’s crucial not to forget about the shelter animals,” said sophomore Chloe Castro, who helped organize the drive.

“For the majority of the time, due to low adoption rates, it is hard for shelters to provide for a large quantity of animals. We feel it is necessary to do our part and help out!” Castro said.
