Male Athlete of the Issue: Louie Marcellino

Patrick Gardner, Co-Sports Editor, Junior

Junior Louie Marcellino has been nothing but incredible for varsity hockey this season. Louie is one of the best players not only on his team or in the section but in the state. He has a total of 82 points so far this year which is unbelievable and he is only a junior. Watching Louie play is almost confusing, he makes other good players look like beginners on the ice and seems to have no trouble scoring a hat trick in almost every game this year.

His teammate, Junior Eric Elbery said, “I’ve been playing with Louie for years now and it’s still crazy how good he is, he takes over in some games, scoring 4 or 5 goals. It looks too easy for him.”

Louie remains humble even though he’s had all of these accomplishments, and he is always thankful for everyone around him.

Marcellino said, “I give a lot of credit to my teammates and coaches for helping me get to where I am now, we have all grown together and I will always be grateful for what they have done for me. I can’t wait for us to go out there for states and show everyone what we can do.”

Louie has confidence in the team and believes they can go the distance in states and bring the title back to Pelham.
