Senior Thomas Shelton is a three sport varsity athlete: football, winter track, and baseball. Shelton is also a varsity captain for each of these sports, and so far this year he has achieved nothing short of greatness for the school, He helped put Pelham on the map for competitive athletics. During his football season he was awarded All League, All Conference, and All Section honors. This winter track season, Shelton had a very strong overall performance in his main event of shot put. On February 20, Shelton won the state qualifying meet allowing him to compete at the NYSPHSAA championships

On March 5, Shelton traveled to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, New York. He headed into this event undefeated, as he won every match during the regular season. With amazing effort and strength, Shelton finished third for public schools and fourth overall in the state.

Shelton said, “It was obviously a huge accomplishment to be able to compete and place at states and I could not have gotten there without support from my coaches and family. Team and individual sports are very different but for me the biggest similarity is that I get the opportunity to go out there and try to make our town and community proud. Every time I compete, regardless of the sport, I compete for Pelham.”
