Male Athlete of the Issue: Golfer Eric Soderberg

Ulysses Conrad, Staff Reporter, Senior

Senior Eric Soderberg has been playing golf since he was 9 years old. He’s on the PMHS golf team and is most known for his stellar form and great record with his shots. Recently, Soderberg scored a 36 on a 9-hole course, one over par, meaning he hit one more shot than a professional golfer would. Golf, a hobby in which scoring lower means more success, has been a love of Soderberg’s since he started nearly a decade ago.

“It’s a great mental challenge,” Soderberg said, referring to the planning involved between shots to make it to the hole in the fewest swings. His best rounds have been 34 (one under par) for a 9-hole round, and a 69 which is also one under par for an 18-hole round. This year, in his final season for PMHS, he will likely be bringing victory for the Golf Team.

Soderberg has already also been honored as a member of the “Stellar Six”, Lohud Sports’s recognition of the top six boys golfers to look out for this Spring season.
