The winter track season for Pelham Memorial High School finally started and the team has a very good chance for success this year. The team already brought home medals in the first meet on December 6. This year the track team is ready for another season full of success and medals. The first meet of the season was at the armory called the BIG CHILLS. …..The team has a whole group of 95 athletes and there’s a very promising group that won at that meet. In the men’s 4x100m relay race, the group consists of junior Nick Massaregli, junior Sean Turner, sophomore Jack Otter, and junior Kristian Howell.
The team’s goals are to improve greatly from last year, they’ve been on the right track getting a great number of athletes this year and having a great number of participants, filling up two buses for meets. This year the team is practicing at Glover Field with events such as the 3200m to the 55m dash.
“Last year the team had a lot of success, and they are looking very strong,” said Coach Brown. The track team’s largest goal is to be state champs which could be very challenging but achievable. The track team is filled with runners from all grades who are dedicated to achieving that goal.
Emma Van Praagh and the Whalen twins are great leaders to the team coming from XC to track.
“This is all for the kids, I want them to show up and get in great shape and have fun and get back to real life again!” said Brown
