Status Report: Boys Basketball

The PMHS Boys Basketball team is off to a 4-2 start. Their wins came against Pearl River, Poughkeepsie, John Jay-Cross River and Glen Cove high schools, while dropping two games to Walter Panas and Hen Hudson. The team is led by coaches Mark Courtein Jr, and Mark Courtein Sr, as well as Jack Ravitz. In fact, Courtein Jr is Pelham basketball’s all-time leading scorer. Additionally, senior captains Luke Ravitz, and Charlie Schellhammer are huge difference makers on the team.

A highlight of the season so far came against Pearl River, when junior Jack Boyce made a clutch 3 point shot with 20 seconds remaining, which would prove to be the game winner. Senior Luke Ravitz said, “We had a successful season last year, but we want to go out and prove ourselves as a group.” Last year, Pelham basketball had one of their most successful seasons in the past 10 years, winning their regular season league championship. They hope to follow that up, and repeat winning the league, with hopes of a section championship as well.
