Following a season that raised eyebrows around town, the Pelham Girls Varsity
Basketball team is striving to make a further run in the Section 1 playoffs. Led by team captains Julianne Argento (senior), Lauren Kuster, Meredith Kuster, and last year’s leading scorer, Sam Volpe (juniors), the Pelicans are gearing up to be an offensive
powerhouse.

“The better connection we have off the court, the more it will help to lead us to
victory on the court. As long as we execute our plays right and play our hearts out on defense, nobody will stop us this year,” said Volpe.

The team is also looking to use their rookie players in key situations.

“One thing we look to accomplish every year is winning the league. We’re definitely looking forward to new players and a good mix of youth and veteran leadership,” said Coach Pitrulle.

With the addition of young players, including freshman Ali Milanese, the Pelicans are looking forward to a strong season.

“I’m looking forward to being on a fun and close knit team and I am trying to build my experience as a basketball player to try and be an asset to the team,” said Milanese.
