Locker Room Update

As a follow up to our article “Boys and Girls Locker Room Renovation Stretches On” (Volume XCIII, Issue 1), there has been a further delay in the project. According to Mr. Mandile, Director of Facilities, the new projected date for the locker room space to be usable was mid-January. However, they are not completely finished as the doors, which are on backorder, won’t be delivered until February 16.

Sock ‘n’ Buskin
Sock ‘n’ Buskin drama group will be performing the musical Hello, Dolly! to take place from March 23-25. Hello, Dolly! Is a musical based on Thornton Wilder’s play The Matchmaker. Set in Yonkers, it follows the story of good-hearted busy-body Dolly Gallagher Levi as she sets the wheels in motion for four different couples to fall in love! This builds on the success of the spring play (“Sock ‘n’ Buskin’s FOOLS is a Laugh Riot,” Volume XCIII, Issue 2). Reserve your tickets at [email protected].

Chorus Fundraiser
Following the success of the recent Jazz Band fundraiser, the high school choruses will hold their own fundraising concert (“Jazz Band Fundraiser Nets $2K”, Volume XCIII, Issue 2). The fundraiser will take place on Tuesday, February 13, at PMHS.
The chorus will be selling t-shirts and refreshments, gearing up for a fun, exciting event.

Correction
Due to deadline constraints, a number of errors appeared in the article “New Hutchinson Elementary School Planned at a Budget of $42M” (Volume XCIII, Issue 2). First, Dr. Champ’s quote should have read, “It is less disruptive to build a new school than it would be to renovate an existing school.” Next, an average 3%, not a 1%, tax increase as originally reported, is expected. In order to fund this increase, $480 more is expected for homeowners with an average assessed home value of 810,000 dollars. Finally, the bond was decided, not voted, on December 5. The Pel Mel deeply regrets these errors.
