PMHS’s Battle of the Bands returned for another year on January 9th at the High School Auditorium. Tickets were priced at $10, with all proceeds going to Student Government to fundraise for schoolwide events. A large variety of bands and individuals performed this year, celebrating various genres of music and showcasing their musical talents for all attendees.
For performers such as junior Camille Rowe, who was accompanied by junior Jade D’Amore, it was their first time singing at the event as the main performers. “Performing at Battle of the Bands with Jade was so much fun,” shares Camille. “I loved singing ‘Last Time I Seen the Sun’ from Sinners,” which Camille shares is a great movie. “I hope to continue performing as I love music and it’s always so exciting being on stage.”
Other participants returned for a second year, such as the sophomore band Static Youth. The band is composed of: Declan Hazen (guitarist), Ella Santerre (Bassist), Katie Howard (Keyboard & Vocalist), Tanner Hughes (Drummer), and Luigi Di Cristofano (Saxophonist). “I felt so much more comfortable and confident performing as a sophomore,” shares Katie. “I think that the band as a whole has improved so much over the last year, and I can’t wait to do more in the future!”
Battle of the Bands included one performance from a senior band: 7th Avenue. The band is composed of: Arman Brummett (Guitarist), Max Halvorson (Guitarist), Sandra Chalissery (Bassist & Vocalist), Sam Bonanno (Bassist & Vocalist), and Will Russello (Drummer). “It was a nice moment,” shared Max Halvorson, guitarist of the band. “It was our last battle of the bands, so it was definitely important for us. I don’t see myself forgetting it!”
The organization of the event is carefully done by teachers to ensure a smooth run each year. “Battle of the Bands is one of the highlights of the year!” shares Ms. Marousek. “So much of what we do in school is related specifically to academics, so an opportunity for students to showcase their abilities in other mediums is so exciting.” She shares the excitement that comes with watching performers evolve in their talent. “If you have ever considered performing in front of a live audience, please consider joining your fellow students next year!” she adds.
Make sure to attend next year in case you missed the 2026 performances.
