With thousands of comics and collectibles being sold in one store, members of almost all fandoms from Pelham can get all their favorite memorabilia in one place. Located at 89 Wolfs Lane, and open from 10 A.M. to 9 P.M., Monday through Saturday, Pelham Comics & Collectibles is a new store that is bringing new life and creative outlets to Pelham. As their motto suggests, “Built for Fans. Open to Everyone”, the store has a vibrant and welcoming environment that gathers a community of already diehard fans, and ones that are just becoming. If you’re interested in superheroes, anime, action figures, trading cards, and so much more, or maybe feel inclined to try something new, this is the place for you. 

Joshua Cabrera is the owner and manager of Pelham Comics & Collectibles. Cabrera always had a love for pop culture and its collectables. Opening this store has been a dream come true for him, “Growing up in Pelham (PMHS class of 2007), I often used to stop by the local video rental store on 5th Ave after school to play with the arcade cabinets and buy trading cards. Some of my fondest memories were in that space. Now, as a parent, I think it’s so important to have places in the community where people can gather and share their fandoms.” With his opening, Cabrera is spreading his love for collecting to an entirely new audience that hasn’t had the local place to learn that love, while also connecting to an audience that has found their love despite the lack of accessibility.

Being that Pelham Comics & Collectibles is just down the street from Pelham Memorial High School, it’s drawing a bevy of eager students curious about what the store has to offer. Arman Brummett, senior at PMHS, “I’m very excited that there’s a comic store coming to Pelham. It’s cool to have new and interesting things to do in town,” in response to what he thought about the newly incumbent store. Having students make memories at his store is actually what Cabrea’s goal is: “I’m very excited to open Pelham Comics & Collectibles and work as hard as I can to create a welcoming environment. I’ll be able to call it a success if, years from now, many will say that they had a great experience inside the shop.” Students like Arman, who have always been inspired, intrigued, and entertained by the mediums that never fail to disappoint, can now surround themselves in worlds that they love through physical means. All this has been made possible by Joshua Cabrera and Pelham Comics and Collectibles.
