This year, the Pelham School District welcomed a new Latin teacher, Louise Michaud. Michaud has been teaching Latin and the Classics for over ten years at middle school, high school, and college levels.

Along with teaching at Pelham, Michaud teaches in the Latin department at New York City’s Hunter College, and also has experience teaching courses in Roman and Greek Civilization, Classical Mythology, and Greek and Latin Roots of English.

Michaud hopes to incite interest in the Latin program at Pelham for all grade levels and to continue to spread awareness for the great language in both the Latin classes and club.

I am still early on in assessing the needs of the program, but am looking forward to helping build the Latin Club and fostering my students’ interests in the discipline,” Michaud said.
